You are here : Consular Service / Convertible Visa

Convertible and extendable entry and stay visas are issued to potential immigrants, either by Malagasy diplomatic and consular representative offices or, exceptionally, by post from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This type of visa cannot be issued at the airport or port of disembarkation. The issuing of a convertible one-month visa does not entitle the holder to its automatic conversion into a long-stay visa.

Several categories of applicants may obtain a convertible one-month visa; the requisite conditions, and hence the documentation to be supplied, vary from one case to another: document attesting to the creation of a company for investors; change of residence for pensioners (Attestation of pension, document of change of residence issued by the pensioners' local authority); Family reunification (Certificate of residence of the family member drawn up in Madagascar, document proving the relationship (marriage certificate, birth certificate of minor children, etc.); Work certificate for expatriate workers.
